EPONAL PRIMABOIS is a two-component primer for the preparation of wooden floorboards and parquet, moisture resistant particleboards and plywood prior to the application of one of our levelling compounds reinforced with synthetic fibres.
EPONAL PRIMABOIS is a multi-purpose primer suitable as :
- filler/repair and strengthener for joins and wooden floor defects, thus strengthening the floor and reducing cracking
- primer for parquet to provide excellent adherence
- damp protective primer for wood basement against water contained in self-levelling compounds
Can be used in all types of locations, even those occupied or open to the public.
For interior use only.
Physical:
- Primer Type: Solvent-free, water-based specific resin dispersion + cement-based powder
- Colour after mixing: dark brown
- Flashpoint: Non-flammable
- Working temperature : Preferably between +10°C and +25°C. Material and substrate temperature not below +10°C
- Pot life: approx. 1 hour
- Dry for covering with fibre-reinforced compounds: after 4 hours
- Set for walking: after 2 hours
- Frost sensitive
Consumption:
Approx. 350-600 g/m² of mixed primer, depending on the substrate and method of application.
Safety:
IMPORTANT: before embarking on any work involving EPONAL PRIMABOIS Primer the separate Product Safety Data Sheet must be studied carefully by those carrying out the work. PREVENT skin and eye contact. Do not breathe vapours. Prevent spillages. Keep away from children and animals.
Shelf life:
Up to 12 months in the original, unopened container, stored at +5°C and +30°C and protected from frost. Frost-sensitive.
PREPARATION
Preparation should be in accordance with building standards. Subfloors must be sound, of adequate tensile and compressive strength; free from laitance, cracks and structural defects; clean and free from dust, grease, curing compounds, sealers or any other contaminants that would inhibit proper bond.
Adhesive residues that are hard, sound and water-tight should be mechanically cut-back to a minimum.
Soft and weak adhesive residues and smoothing underlayments should be completely removed.
Residual moisture content of wooden floors must be between 7 and 11%.
Ensure sufficient ventilation of wooden floors.
For parquet, fill the joins between planks, than apply primer in a single work step.
APPLICATION
Mix 12.5 kg of powder with 5 kg of resin in a clean container until an even, dark brown colour is achieved. Use an electric drill and mixing paddle (< 500 rpm).
Apply the primer evenly with a float. Allow to dry for approx. 4 hours (depending on the substrate, ventilation, humidity and temperature conditions).
Only perform subsequent work after complete drying. If in doubt delay.
Smoothing and levelling underlayment should be applied within approx. 4 hours.
Cleaning
Clean with warm water whilst the primer is still wet.
Dry splashes can only be removed mechanically.
