Molecular Sieve Type 3A for insulated glass

Uses

BOSTIK MOL 4000 is a Molecular Sieve Type 3A, the potassium form of the Type A Crystal structure. It is an alkali metal alumino-silicate. Type 3A is widely used for insulated glass.

In the production of insulating glasses this is the chemical substance placed in the double lined perforations of the aluminium spacer bars in order to prevent the chemical reactions and evaporations taking place between two glasses.

Benefits

  • Very good flowability supported by good spherical size of granules.
  • Sphere distribution is very good and as result similar granules with similar hardness and nearly no friction during transport and in the IG units caused by mechanical influences.
  • Low water adsorption speed within first one hour and during application.
  • Very high water adsorption capacity in volume unit.
  • Bead size of the molecular sieve is between 1.5 to 2.0mm. Nominal pore diameter is 3 angstroms.
